The English Colonial Series is inspired by the simple, enduring timber-frame buildings of New England and the rural Northeast. In northeastern Pennsylvania, that tradition has a local connection through the early Connecticut settlements of the Wyoming Valley, where New England building practices became part of the region’s architectural character.

These frames are shaped by the qualities that made early timber buildings so effective: straightforward structural layouts, balanced proportions, steep traditional rooflines, durable heavy-timber construction, and mortise-and-tenon joinery designed to work as a complete frame.

The series also draws on square-rule layout, an important American development in timber framing that allowed craftsmen to lay out joinery accurately even when working with naturally irregular, hand-hewn or sawn timbers. It became a defining part of nineteenth-century American timber-frame practice and remains closely associated with traditional frame layout today.

Rather than reproducing a specific historic building, the English Colonial Series applies these traditional principles to structures intended for use today. The result is a frame with the character of an early American barn, workshop, carriage house, or homestead, while remaining practical for modern construction and contemporary use.

Each package is developed around traditional heavy-timber joinery and exposed timber detailing. Shop drawings, post anchors, and required wood-to-wood fasteners are included, providing a clearly defined frame package ready for foundation and enclosure planning.
